This Thursday (14th February) we will be launching the Sustainable Blueprint for Canterbury written specifically for the city by Dr Lynn Sloman, one of the country’s leading experts in sustainable transport.
The Blueprint is attached and a film of Lynn’s presentation can be seen here: www.canterburysociety.org.uk
There will be various events going on throughout the day. Dr Sloman will be giving two presentations of the Blueprint to Councillors and business leaders.
Then between 12noon and 2pm we will be having a variety of sustainable celebrations around the Westgate Towers. There will be:
- Speeches by Dr Lynn Sloman and South East MEP, Keith Taylor.
- Stalls and music, including some big local names kindly coordinated by Ivan Thompson (Hullaballoo, Hail Bop, Jazz Police) including Brendan Power, Adrian Brown, James Evans, Robert Jarvis, Andee Price and Alan King. All powered by Wheely Groovy (green pedal power).
- CAST focal point and information hub in the bus parked by the Towers, courtesy of Stagecoach. CAST personnel will be available to answer people’s questions about sustainable transport and hand out flyers.
- At 12.30pm: everyone dressed in red will form a heart shape around the Towers to show their love for the city.
On the same day, we will also be launching a new alliance of groups and individuals interested in promoting sustainable transport for our city and surrounding areas: Canterbury Alliance for Sustainable Transport. If you are interested in finding out more or joining us please contact me.
Please come along and show some love for your city – and please wear red!
Hoping to see you on Valentine’s Day.
